Mark Mclinden And plenty of it. His game against the Blues was top-shelf. A possible Wallabies' squad bolter - he's that good. Posted 29 Apr 2009

Ole Avei The australian rugby has too many politics that have to be fixed. Ole Avei is the best hooker in australia by far but because he's a different color, he doesn't have any of his family in the wallabies or he doesn't know any of the committee he gets underlook by selectors with players like Sean Hardman who doesn't work as hard as Ole does. Sean cant run with the ball, he defense sucks & his scrumaging is no good. Why do you think Australia is getting dominated in the scrum? Its because these players were spoon fed there way up to the wallabies while people like Ole (from Victoria) who is much more of a explosive runner, can tackle everyone & anyone & can contrl the scrums (which Australia need right now) have to work there absolute ass's of just to even be consider. Ole is a champion to all of Victoria because of his work effort to be where he is today. Good move going to Waikato Ole, New Zealand is your oppurtunity to show your stuff. When you make the All Blacks stick it up the Wallabies & smash Sean Hardman so you can show Australia who should have been in that position... Last reply 21 Aug 2008

    • baddo:   Ole Avei (Sunnybank Dragons) is a quality player I think the Reds have for too long overlooked his abilities to play not only hooker but also back row, he has potential to start for super 14 but I think a lot of the selections are based on "status" and if your not already up there and have secured your spot then its going to be tough breaking in, im not too sure that as you were saying Melu that its because he's black (although your right about the politics) but there are a lot of successful pacific islanders who have made it due to the fact their bodies are naturally built for playing hard contact sport and are talented in the area. But nevertheless lets face it Ole Avei is a consistent player he is solid in the scrums and he has dangerous defence, I mean dangerous try breaking through his defence and your likely to cop one hell of a blow or even a knockout like in the recent waikato vs Tasman game. Waikato have done a smart thing signing Avei not only is he finally getting the recognition he deserves that could land him maybe a bigger and better contract with an Australian team and I'd be opting that he gets a gig for super 14, but rumours also are that some international clubs are after him to sign and I wouldn’t be surprised if after seeing his performance with Waikato, once the contract is up there will be many more prospective options and teams open to him. Good on you Avei. 21 Aug 2008

    • Pepper:   Interesting comment Melu. The scrum is definitely the fundamental problem with the Wallabies. Until it's fixed, we will NEVER win the Bledisloe Cup, Tri Nations or World Cup. It's a pity to hear our best talent is not even given a go. What are your thoughts on the appointment of Robbie Deans? 4 Aug 2008
