Geelong is the only team with something at stake this finals series.
For every other side, losing to Geelong in the finals or Grand Final would be considered acceptable. If Geelong loses the Grand Final it will be a disaster. As we've seen with the West Coast Eagles you can fall very quickly down the AFL ladder.
It's important you maximise your flags when you have the best side in the AFL, as the Brisbane Lions did. Now Brisbane will probably need to wait at least 3 - 5 years before they're back in the top 4.
We've also seen so called 'great teams' like Essendon in early 2000 only snag 1 premiership, yet people keep comparing this Geelong side to the Essendon side of 2000.
The pressure is on Geelong, and only time will tell if they're up to the challenge.
I predict they'll come through and beat Hawthorn in the Grand Final by 17 pts with Gary Ablett taking the Norm Smith medal.
The real challenge will come next season.

Not sure the Saints would agree with this post MickTower. And, to be talking about next year could be a little premature - you've highlighted yourself what happened to Essendon in 2000. I think they're good enough, though they haven't achieved much yet. Let's see where they're at in four weeks time.
